Sculpture Care

It is important to have a care routine for your stone or wood sculptures. Just like you would have a humidifier in your home to keep your wood cabinets, trim and furniture from drying out and becoming brittle. I keep a small cup of water inside my curio cabinets.

At least once per month I wipe down my sculptures with "Liquid Gold" furniture polish or a natural "Beeswax" polish. If your sculptures start showing signs of "dry" spots before the end of the month, you might want to start treating them more than once per month.

The Crabby Nook has brought our customers a unique cultural shopping experience since 1998. After a temporary hiatus from 2006 to 2009 due to illness that forced us to close our physical store, we have reopened as an exclusively online selling site, enabling us to reach more customers than we could as a brick and mortar establishment.

This has also enabled us to add art and collectibles from around the world. We currently specialize in products from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Holy Land. We are traveling the world looking for unique ethnic cultural collectibles for your shopping pleasure. It is a growing business. We carry some wonderful soapstone carvings from Africa. These make great gifts. Be sure to check out our animal sculptures, pencil cups, trinket boxes and plates. We are also carrying a very nice selection of hand woven baskets. We are having a hard time keeping these in stock. All of our products from Africa are of the highest quality and made with "living green" concepts with natural fibers, stones and dyes. We will also be adding more bone sculptures. They are magnificant!

  • Protectors - You should always have at least one Kuan Kung, one Terra Cotta Warrior, pair of Temple Lions, pair of Dragons and Chinese Zodiac symbol displayed in your home and office.

  • Strength and Wisdom - You should have at least one Horse, Elephant, Tiger and Dragon displayed in your home.

  • Crystals - The minimum you should have is at least one Pagoda, one Lotus and one Etched Globe.

  • Jade - You should have at least one jade display in several rooms in your home. Jade is physically healing, welcomes wealth, absorbs negative energies, produces a calming effect.
